Panagbenga Festival

The Panagbenga Festival is an annual flower festival celebrated in Baguio City, Philippines. It is one of the most popular festivals in the country and is held every February to commemorate the city’s resilience after the 1990 Luzon earthquake.

The festival’s name, “Panagbenga,” comes from a Kankanaey term which means “season of blooming.” The festival is a celebration of Baguio’s rich cultural heritage and the city’s commitment to preserving its natural resources.

During the festival, the streets of Baguio are filled with vibrant colors as locals and tourists alike come out to witness the grand parade. The parade features flower-decked floats, street dancers, and marching bands from all over the Philippines.

Aside from the grand parade, the festival also includes other events such as the Drum and Lyre Competition, the Market Encounter, and the Session Road in Bloom, where the city’s main thoroughfare is transformed into a garden filled with flowers and plants.

The festival is not just a celebration of the city’s natural beauty, but also a tribute to the resiliency and unity of the Baguio people. It’s a time to come together, celebrate life, and appreciate the beauty of nature.
